Me and a few family memebers have come to an informal agreement to save approx. £500 per weak (combined) for a 1yr period. The money saved will then be used to put a deposit on a property.
Is there any type of bank account which will consider us as a genuine group of investors all be it on a small scale.

Lena Al asked: I have overdraft protection from my savings account at the credit union. The credit union was holding my checks, charging me a $25 fee and then taking the money out of my savings account. I had $600 in overdraft fees and plus some checks have went back. I believe that the bank manager is stealing my money (call it intution). The bank manager called me on the phone and was screaming at me that I needed to bring $500 to cover the fees. By the time I got to the bank (2 minutes later), it changed to $600. So I pulled my account and found some odd things that they were doing, including holding checks. I went to my other bank and (10 minutes later) gave her $600. Then she said that was not enough because now $615.00. Then charged me $35 to close the account. She wanted to know what was my profession. When I went and paid off the $600 and closed the account, she suddenly got quiet and upset that I was closing the account (now that’s odd). She is hiding something, I feel it. What can I do?
I have closed the account so I won’t be writing anymore checks on the account.

If I am low on funds in my checking account, is it better to use my overdraft protection, or should I transfer money from my savings account into the checking account? If I go into overdraft, I plan to pay it as soon as the next time I get paid.

I wanted to clarify my last question. In NY, a relative wishes to set up an “ITF” or In Trust For/Totten Trust savings account with me as a beneficiary. My concern is that a potential creditor of mine could levy or seize/attack that account even though I’d have no access to the money until after my relative died. Are my concerns justified?

I had about $6,000 in a savings account last year and it earned about $12 in interest. That’s only about two-tenths of a percent. Is that right? I thought savings accounts earned 3% on average. 3% of $6,000 is $180. What gives?

Jane K asked: Hello, I am wondering if it’s possible to change a savings account into a checking account or would I have to open a separate account for that?
If it is possible, would there be a fee?
Thanks in advance.

Anyone do this? I really want to start saving again but I don’t want this money to be used for over draft protection or be tempted online to rob it and put it in my checking so I spend it.

How much money does it cost to start up a savings account and how much money always has to be in your savings account. At my old bank it cost $5 to start up a savings account and that $5 always has to remain in there.

I have a couple grand that I would like to put into a savings type account and earn some interest from. I only want to put it in a saving type of account for a year. What would be the best type of account to put it in to get the best interest return? When I take it out after a year, will I get taxed on it ?
